This is in continuation of the August-2008 postings. I request new readers to go through the older sections of August for continuity and cross-referencing to Sattanatahupuram-Cadavasal-Thanjavur roots
The 1st daughter of Shri Naganatha Sastry was Mohambal and was married to T.L.Subbaiyer of thirukarugavoor near Papanasam. In the sections below, you can find the family connections pertaining to Thirukarugavoor. These were compiled based on the mail exchanges from Shri CRN and Arupathy Sekar mama.
My role is here as a compiler of these exchanges into passive voice and referencing them, so that the current generations are able to place them.

From Sundaresan:
Dr S.Vaidyanathan (my mother Savithri’s elder sister’s husband) is a well known personality and reputed doctor in Mayavaram. He has been associated with various charitable associations and the Dharmavaram mutt charitable activities. His second son Chandrasekar’s wife Aparna is from Thirukarugavoor.
Her father’s name is T.N.Balasubramaniam and his grandfather’s name is Narayanaswamy Iyer from Thirukarugavoor. She told me that Naryanaswamy iyer and TLS,TLK are direct dhayadhi’s. Let me probe this connection in my next visit, since I’m equipped with a wealth of information.

Some key notes on Shri T.V. Balan
[2nd s/o TS Venkatraman and Grandson of T L Subbaiyer] . He is also the Great Grand son Shri P.V. Naganatha Sastry.
T S Venkatraman, [Venkittu anna] was one of the earliest person to leave the Thirukarugavoor village and get to Madras for Studies and a Job, and also helped a large number of Relatives and Friends to get to Madras for betterment.
Shri Balan also made an attempt to create the "Family Tree" , way back in the late 50's, at the insistence of Prof T N Muthuswami Iyer, his Father's maternal uncle. He gave all his working Papers to Prof TN M as desired by him, when he left for a World Tour in Sep'1959.
Note: A elaborate Paper copy of the family tree created by Prof T.N.Viswantahan is available with Sundaresan.
Shri Balan is one of the early birds in India, and his stint with Computers goes back to 1969. He was the 6th President of the Computer Society of India in 1978-80, and today the 35th President is in Office.
He worked for ACC [A Tata Group Company then] for 35 years, and took premature retirement when he was No.1, and took up an International Assignment in East Africa for about 3 years with HQ @ Nairobi. He is internationally recognized for his Leadership in Cement Industry, and Computerization and “ITC” – Information & Communication Technology.
Shri Balan was acclaimed by Mr. Narayana Murthy (Mentor Infosys) as a Visionary in the 70’s for taking IT to Industry.
Balan’s wife is smt Sita spent her adulthood and did her studies in Bangalore. She worked for a couple of years at the famous Maharani's College as Faculty after her M Sc in Organic Chemistry.
As a personality with vast knowledge in various domains, “TV Balan” likes to emulate great Statesmen around the World and complains that God has given him only 24 hours in a day, and not 36 hours for better contribution to Society sharing his vast Knowledge and experience.
It is TV’s ardent belief that
“We all, together, can find a way to replace exhaustion with energy, Cynicism with hope, resignation with determination, and destructive anger with constructive activism”
Monthly Family get togethers used ot be organized in Mumbai. The participants were Balan, his siter Bhargavi and her husband Sherman, TD Sethuraman s/o of Bacchu Chithi, Ganeshu son of Gowri Chithi and R Appuswamy Iyer, Vijayam d/o of Kamu Chithi and her husband and a son of Kamu Chithi of Umayalpuram who was familiarly called Kunjan [when he was posted in Mumbai IOB]and CRN mama. This used to be a get together of many Cousins and Nephews of the Family and their Parents , more to keep in touch for old time’s sake, and know about the newcomers to the fold. CRN and Balan were instrumental in organising that regularly, and it started off when they all met for the first time when TDS's Mother -Pachu Patti died.
CRN mama used to say it was real fun as all childhood encounters were recalled and the elders were sometimes praised and sometimes pilloried!
Note: Pachu Patti is the 6th Child of P.V. Naganatha Sastry and younger sister of Cadavasal Patti. She was an "Institution" abundant with love and affection to one and all of the extended clan. She was an LIC Agent too.
Thanjavur Naganatha Sastry Eldest Daughter was Mohambal married to Thirukarugavoor Subbaiyer. Their 1st Son was T.S. Venkataram.....

It is nostalgia for me to recall very early days in Tanjore during the second world war, when most of our clan evacuated Madras, now Chennai and migrated to Tanjore. The families lived eiter in Kali
Anna's (T N Kalidas Iyer, s/o P V Naganatha Sastri. He was the third child of P V Naganatha Sasthri. It was wonderful when cousins met. I was not a Madras child but my father and mother visited Tanjore to meet the clan for a week or so.
The luncheon meets in Bombay brought us all to-gether after many years. Now the diaspora has thrown us all in different corners of India and abroad. Our generation know each other but the next generation may not recognze their cousins, if met accicentally. Your blog is so important that it will help to connect the cousins, and know how they are related. Thanks Shyam. we and the future generations owe you much that can not be paid in any form except emotionally and by recognozing your unparalleled contribution to the clan.
Any spelling errors, please pardon as my vision is poor!
